Dr. Susanne Schmeier, LLM, studied international law and international relations (with minors in economics and Chinese) at the University of Leipzig, Sciences Po Paris and the University of London. She holds at PhD from the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies (BTS), in co-supervision with Oregon State University. She currently works at IHE Delft as a senior lecturer. Prior to this, she has worked with the Gesellschaft für international Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), coordinating their transboundary water management portfolio and managing their water, energy and food security program. She has also worked with a number of international organizations – such as the World Bank or the Mekong River Commission. Her work and research focuses on environmental and water law, river basin management and the link between water and security.
